About Grail Trails

The village of Roslin is famed for the Rosslyn Chapel, and it’s mysterious connections with the Holy Grail. Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code brought a whole new level of interest to the area, and we are proud of the walks and trails we have locally.

We welcome you to Roslin and beyond with the many points of interest that you can find as you venture into the Roslin Glen Country Park area.

We created the trail map so that you can find your way around and make the most of your visit to Roslin village and beyond.

You can download and print the map from here, or use the interactive version above, discovering the landmarks as you go.

With three trails to choose from, there’s always a reason to keep coming back to Roslin and discovering more!

Why we created Grail Trails

Project background

Richard Harris

I grew up in Roslin and have always been immensely proud of our village—its history, its community, and its mystery. My family has operated The Original Rosslyn Inn since 1973, and my wife has run Dolly’s Tea Room since 2013. Together, we’ve seen the village evolve, welcoming thousands of visitors each year drawn by the allure of Rosslyn Chapel.

Yet time and again, I’ve watched people come to the chapel, gaze in wonder, and leave without ever truly experiencing the magic that surrounds it—the myths, the legends, and the beauty of its natural setting.

That’s why we created Grail Trails.

This project was born out of a deep-rooted love for Roslin. We wanted to inspire visitors to explore beyond the chapel walls—to wander through the glen, connect with our past, and feel part of the story that has enchanted people for centuries. At its heart, Grail Trails is about environmentally conscious tourism and inclusion for all —encouraging respectful exploration and curiosity while supporting the local economy.

None of this would have been possible without the support of local, family-run businesses. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to:

Gordon Sheppard at Nimble Digital – for bringing our website to life and making the project visible to the world.

Ali and Keith at Colorprinz – for the eye-catching graphics that give Grail Trails its visual identity.

Alex, Ross, Aalyn, and the whole team at You More – for their boundless energy and creativity.

Aidan and the entire team at Specialised Signs – for turning our vision into a tangible information point at the heart of the village.

Together, we’ve created something that celebrates our heritage, supports local enterprise, and invites people to experience the wonder of Roslin in a new way.
